Biodiversity in the UAE
СЃРїСЂСѓС‚
The UAE has 49 terrestrial and marine protected areas, including eight in Dubai. Accounting for over 18% of the country’s land territory and 12% of its marine and coastal territory, these protected areas are often natural reserves which include all the major ecosystems found in the region: mountain, desert, coastal and marine.

Andrew Gardner, associate director of Biodiversity Conservation at Emirates Nature-WWF, says wildlife conservation is recognized as an “important responsibility and obligation by the UAE.” For example, the country is a signatory to multiple international conservation conventions, such as the Convention on Biological Diversity, and has helped reintroduce animals such as the Arabian oryx to the Arabian Peninsula. According to Gardner, there are now over 1,600 oryx in two of the UAE’s protected areas, and thousands more in zoos across the region.
However, rapid development and population growth across the Emirates mean that “53% of bird species, 46.7% of mammal species, 19% of reptile species, and 8% of plant species” are endangered, according to a government report.
Gardner says the Arabian wolf and striped hyena have both gone extinct from the UAE in recent decades, and a small population of Arabian leopards that lived the Hajar Mountains until the mid-1990s are now also believed to be extinct.
Karingattil points to habitat loss, climate change and overfishing as some of the major threats facing wildlife in the UAE, but one issue he thinks people should take more action against is plastic pollution.

Let's seize an excursion down memory alley and explore the advancement of tea towels, shall we? From basic startings to cutting-edge innovations, these daily requirements have traversed quite a journey over the decades.
Once upon a period, kitchen towels were solely fashioned from cotton fabric—a soft, soaking up material that's perfect for dehydrating tableware and swabbing surfaces. While cotton linens are yet in demand currently, they've been supplemented by a more recent cutting-edge challenger: microfibre.
Microfiber linens are constructed from ultrafine synthetic threads that are extraordinarily absorbent and rapidly drying. They're also unbound of lint, so you won't have to stress about random filaments adhering to your dishes or surfaces. Plus, they're extremely strong and durable, making them a preferred amongst expert culinarians and house culinarians alike.
But the development of dish cloths does not end there. At present, you can unearth towels in a wide variety of colors, designs, and looks to complement any cookery decor. Whether you prefer traditional stripes, fanciful prints, or smooth, up-to-date designs, there's a kitchen towel available for you.
So whether you're an enthusiast of standard cotton towels or you swear by the cutting-edge performance of microfiber, one element's for sure: the unassuming tea towel has traversed a great distance since its initial days.

Wasilla, south central Alaska. Home to bears, lakes, mountains and a flight school that’s fast becoming a private aviation wonderland.
At FLY8MA Pilot Lodge, you can opt for a scenic flight tour with glacier views, take the controls for a flying lesson, or go all in and get your pilot training.
When night falls over the broad vistas of the US state they call the Last Frontier, you can then climb the steps to two unique accommodation experiences: a converted McDonnell Douglas DC-6 airplane and the newest arrival, a McDonnell Douglas DC-9 – still with its DHL livery.
The fast-developing site is an ongoing project by FLY8MA founder Jon Kotwicki, who previously owned a flight school in Florida, before working as a commercial pilot and eventually ending up in Alaska.
Flying for the airlines “pays good money and everything, but it’s a very boring job,” he says. “Driving Uber is more interesting because you could talk to your passengers.”
Having fallen in love with the south central region on a vacation spent hiking, fishing and spotting bears and grizzlies, he chose it as a spot where he and his team – and his trusty Pomeranian dog Foxtrot – could “buy a lot of property and perhaps develop our own airport and run our own show.”
